Newel K. Whitney Store (more fun in Ohio)

This is probably my favorite room. It was above the store. This is the school of Prophets room. This is where the Prophet was inspired and shared the word of wisdom. As a teenager, my mother was called to serve in the Young Women's Stake Presidency. The stake president thought it would be neat if he set her apart in the school of Prophets. Our entire family was able to go to the School of Prophets and be there with the Stake Presidency and feel the spirit as my mother was set apart to be in the YW Presidency. It was a really neat experience.

This is also upstairs from the store. This is where dignitaries would be served dinner or have meetings with the Prophet Joseph Smith.

This is the store. And what you would find back in the 1800's

It was really neat to walk where the Prophet Joseph Smith walked. The Whitney family who owned this store truly dedicated themselves to the Lord. When it was time for the saints to leave and travel west, the Whitney family gave up their store to travel with the saints. Many sacrifices were made for us to have this gospel in our lives. I am so grateful to the early saints. They served in ways, that today many would feel put out. It was a

great reminder of how important it is to serve others, even when we feel put out.

It is so fun to see and imagine how things were and look at how far we've come. We wouldn't be here without them. Fun family memories!
